35 items of clothing, 8 pairs of shoes, 3 bags
This week I am starting a series of blog posts and videos on how to build a minimalist wardrobe. I am doing this for two reasons; to show you how you can build your own small wardrobe, and to inspire you to find new ways of wearing existing items in your wardrobe.
As we are heading into autumn in the southern hemisphere, and spring in the northern hemisphere, this series is focused on transeasonal looks.
In Part 1 of this series, I start with six black basic items of clothing and one pair of shoes.
- Black cashmere Grana turtleneck
- Black viscose Morrison dress
- Black silk Weathered skirt
- Black cotton blend Uniqlo trousers
- Black leather Marcs jacket
- Black lyocell Zara trench
- Black Aldo loafers
In a small wardrobe, black never loses its appeal. It is flattering on almost every person, and appropriate for most occasions. Six simple classic black basics can form the basis of an entire wardrobe.
With the items above I was able to create six looks appropriate for casual or work wear, depending on your lifestyle.
A few tips to make your black basics a little more interesting:
- Layer items of clothing
- Combine different textures
- Wear your items in new ways
Here is a video I made to help bring these ideas to life. Enjoy!
