Minimalist Apartment Tour: Kitchen and Living

30 items of clothing, 8 pairs of shoes, 2 bags

I recently posted an apartment tour video on my YouTube channel. That video was an overview of the three main living spaces of my home; the kitchen/living area, the bedroom, and the bathroom/laundry area. Over the next few months I hope to post more detailed videos of each of those living spaces.

This week I am posting a video of my kitchen/living area. I know that some of you will find my home quite minimal, while others will think it is hardly minimal at all. I have recently been watching a lot of videos about van dwellers and feeling envious of that lifestyle. That has definitely made me feel like I have too many things. If you want to see some of the videos I’ve been watching, visit my Facebook page, where I post links to cool minimalist content.

There is so much storage in the kitchen that I keep things there you wouldn’t normally expect, for example, my bedding and art supplies. It’s pretty funny to think that when I first moved in I thought I needed more storage. As you’ll see, I have quite a bit of empty space now.

While I have a fairly limited amount of serving wear for day to day use, I actually have a lot of things for the purpose of entertaining. The jury is out on whether I really need these things, because I don’t entertain often, but nobody can argue that I value cheese and wine.

I don’t have a lot of storage in the living area, and this is fine because I don’t actually have a lot of stuff to keep there. Any sort of entertainment system I had in the past is long gone. Mostly what I keep there are books and a few decorative pieces.

As I have mentioned before, I do feel like my furniture is super bulky. If I had the chance again, I would have bought smaller pieces so that I could have more space.

Here is the video tour of my kitchen/living area. Enjoy!

  1. Loves! You’ve inspired me in previous posts to reduce a few things in my 750 sq foot apartment. Since divorcing in 2016 and long before liking the idea of minimalism, you’ve rekindled me. Thanks!! ❤️😌
