30 items of clothing, 8 pairs of shoes, 2 bags
Every once in awhile I photograph and record my outfits over a period of time. Today I bring you two weeks of winter outfits.
I like to record my outfits because it reminds me how versatile my wardrobe is, despite its small size. Rather than being limiting, my small wardrobe has allowed me to be more creative with what I wear, and more appreciative of the range of choices one single item presents.
Having a minimalist wardrobe means I have less outfit options than most people, however, being aware of every item I own, I find it very easy to get dressed most days. Eliminating options is actually a very sensible way to limit stress, disorientation and inevitably, frustration, when getting dressed. Whenever I record my outfits, I really appreciate that I do not need a large wardrobe to dress well.
The last time I recorded my outfits was in the Australian summer. This time I present some of my winter options.
I always record my work outfits because this is the place I spend most of my time, and where being dressed appropriately matters the most. During the weekends I wear the same items in different arrangements.
In the images of my outfits you will see:
1 pair of pants
2 shirts (one is long, like a dress)
1 pair of boots
1 pair of loafers
1 pair of flats
That is a total of 14 items of clothing and 3 pairs of shoes.
If you struggle to figure out what to wear on a recurring basis, taking photographs of a variety of outfits could help you create some go-to looks. In addition, testing my options helps me affirm my personal style. From my experiments I can see what I like, and what I definitely do not. I certainly feel a new sense of enthusiasm for well worn items every time I present myself with this challenge.
