My Minimalist Dream Life Morning Routine | Meditation and Nature in Australia

This month I am living my dream life in the South West, a place I would really like to move to. Seeing as I’m living my dream life, I thought I would describe my dream life morning routine.

This morning routine would totally depend on me not working full time. As you know, in my real life I do, and this routine would be quite difficult to achieve in that context.

In my South West morning routine I am able to fit in things that relax me, clear my mind, and prepare me for an awesome day. Below I describe the perfect elements for an excellent morning.

  • Light breakfast

In the past I had a tendency to overeat, and for years my favoured breakfast was full of protein and processed carbs. This kind of breakfast left me feeling heavy and drowsy. It was also time consuming to create. Over time I have learnt that I function much better on a light breakfast. What I have now is yogurt and muesli. This takes less than a minute to prepare and keeps me feeling light but satisfied for a few hours.

  • Green tea

I love drinking green tea. I understand that it contains caffeine, but I honestly think it’s more psychologically important to me than physically. I like to carry my thermal cup full of green tea around with me until the afternoon. It’s like carrying a warm hug. I feel refreshed and energised when I drink it, and it helps me slow down my busy mind and stay focused.

  • Meditation

I am notoriously bad at meditation. I have an anxious personality type, and my brain is always chattering away. I’m always coming up with ideas, plans, or problem solving. I need to meditate to clear my head, but this is difficult for me to achieve. Anything that can help me switch off my mind is a bonus in my life. I feel like an empty space in my mind in the morning is a clean slate for my day.

  • Nature

Nature is one of the few things that calms me down quickly and fills me with contentment instantly. How I feel when I’m in nature is the closest I come to meditating naturally. Going for a walk, hike or swim daily are essential parts to my well being.
