28 Day Minimalist Wardrobe Challenge Series | Building A Small Wardrobe

Welcome to day 1 of the minimalist wardrobe challenge series. For the next 28 days, I will be posting a video a day to help you build your own minimalist wardrobe. I am doing this because I am going travelling for a period of three weeks, and I decided I wanted to leave you with something epic while I take a break.

The objective of this series is to help you redesign your wardrobe with minimal effort. Every day, in each video, you will be receiving a short task to complete. This activity will in some way help you develop a smaller wardrobe.

Tune in everyday with a tea, a notebook, and get ready to redesign your wardrobe with me over the coming month! Here is a calendar for the challenge!

28 Day Minimalist Wardrobe Challenge

Below is your video for day 1.

I personally have a wardrobe of around 30 items, and this is perfect for me. Back when I had a large wardrobe, I never felt like I had anything to wear, even though I was always shopping. My wardrobe was a mismatch of styles and colours, and I was rarely able to put together an outfit I was pleased with.

Since I began minimising my wardrobe two and a half years ago, I have created a uniform that reflects my authentic style, and getting dressed is a breeze. I am able to make good shopping decisions, and I always have something appropriate to wear.

You do not need to have 30 items to be satisfied with your wardrobe. The number of items you have is not important, what is important is how you feel about it, and how you use it. This challenge is not about numbers or extremes.

As I mentioned, I will be on the road this month. For this reason, you will only receive two blog posts from me in September, this one, and one reflecting on the challenge at its end.

I will be posting content from my travels here in October. If you would like to keep up to date with my travels until then, you can follow me on Instagram.

Please make note that my online shop will also be closed for a period of time, so if you would like to purchase something, now is the time!

In other news, in a couple of days it will be the two year anniversary of A Small Wardrobe. Here is the first post, if you are curious. The post does not really finish, it just trails off, which is amusing.

It is hard to believe how much my attitude has changed over the last couple years. I could spend a whole paragraph writing about how great minimalism is, and how it has affected me, but I’ve done that a bunch of times already. The true gift of this blog has been the confidence I have gained from it. Undertaking a big creative project is nothing new for me, but sending that project into the world for thousands of people to see has been. There have been many times when it has been terrifying. There has been amazing support from you lovely people, and of course the usual mean comments from others, some of which have haunted me. Despite this, I have learnt that what other people think does not matter in the end. The confidence I have gained is not cockiness. It’s a simple understanding that if you are obsessed with something in life, you should do it. The only person you really need to be able to impress is you. Life is too short to let other people’s opinions guide your actions.

In case you are wondering, the top I am wearing in the video is by Organic Basics. Here is the 20% coupon code I mentioned in the video, asmallwardrobexOB20 (follow this link to Organic Basics).

I recently deleted my Facebook account, but you can still check me out on YouTubeInstagram, and Pinterest! I also have a Patreon account, where I post additional content weekly. Patreon subscribers receive a number of benefits, including additional weekly content, early access, and discount in the Small Wardrobe shop.

As a final note, here is a new YouTube channel I have started. Content coming soon, I promise.
